Save money

Want a lower wireless bill? Here’s an oldie but goodie that’s always relevant and often instantly lowers your cell phone bill. One of the oldest tricks in the book that many of us overlook is simply calling your cell phone service carrier and literally asking to save money.

The concept of excellent customer service means keeping the customer happy. Sometimes that even means making less money for the carrier and saving you money. While carriers don’t always like to do that, many of them certainly often don’t help you do it proactively.

But if you call asking for it, that’s another story. In that case, they’re often very receptive to making your time worth it and giving you yet another incentive to stay a loyal customer.

Money-Saving Tips

When you call your carrier, here are four ways to assist them in helping you lower your cell phone bill. Ask about their current promotions. Perhaps a new cell phone promotion can save you money for six or so months or there’s a reason they can give you some free minutes. Asking can’t hurt.

1 Ask about newer plans. Perhaps you’re on an outdated service plan and a newer plan would save you more money. Ask and get updated.

2 Ask about changing plans. Perhaps you’re paying for more minutes than you’re using and you’re spending too much money. Ask for a historical analysis of your usage going back one year to determine if a different plan would better suit you and save you money.

3 Convince them you’re loyal and should be rewarded for it. Whether you’ve been with your cell phone service carrier for a year or five years, ask if there are any loyalty rewards available in their system to instantly add to your account.
